Get your Santa suits at the ready! Cornwall Hospice Care’s Santa fun run and cycle returns to Padstow Christmas Festival on Saturday, 8th December – and promises to be better than ever.
People of all ages are welcome to join Team Santa to raise much-needed funds for the charity, which provides round-the-clock care for terminally ill patients in the county.
Oli Hoare, head of fundraising at Cornwall Hospice Care, said: “We are very excited about this year’s Santa Series. These events are always full of festive cheer.
“Seeing hundreds of people come together to raise money for our charity is always inspiring.
“To those who have already signed up, I would like to say a huge thank you for helping to fund the specialist care we provide. To those thinking about it, it really is a case of the more the merrier!”
Almost 300 people took part in last year’s event, raising £6,185.29 for Cornwall Hospice Care. This money will pay for up to 120 hours worth of nursing care. Money raised from registration fees and sponsorship goes directly towards funding the charity’s bereavement counsellors, nursing staff, doctors, catering staff, therapists, and housekeepers.
You can either take part in the Santa cycle along the five-mile stretch of the Camel Trail between Padstow and Wadebridge, or, if cycling isn’t your thing, release your inner Santa on the 1.3-mile Santa fun run through the streets of Padstow. Cyclists leave Wadebridge at 11:30am, and the fun run starts at 1pm.
