Sharp’s Brewery

Cornwall’s first Silent Bistro, Coconut Stout and the exclusive Secret Bar Experience – just a flavour of what Sharp’s Brewery will serve up at this year’s Padstow Christmas Festival
The festival’s lead sponsor, Sharp’s Brewery, will be on the ground delivering a host of exciting activities again this year. Festival goers can take part in the new for 2019 ‘Silent Bistro’ experience, watch Sharp’s beer sommelier’s insightful food and beer pairing demo and try beers at the fully stocked main stand – all masterminded by the Sharp’s team. The exclusive Secret Bar will also make a comeback with an incredible taste experience inside that only a limited number of people will be fortunate to try.
North Cornwall is home to Sharp’s Brewery, located just across the estuary from Padstow in Rock and this hugely popular festival is one of the brewery team’s favourites, and as such, they have supported the event from its beginnings. As ever, the Sharp’s team will be bringing their portfolio of award-winning beers to give tastes and experiences to festival goers from far and wide. For many, the festival is the curtain raiser to the festive season, providing locals and visitors with inspiration for magical Christmas feasts and lots of opportunities to taste and buy quality Cornish food, drink and gifts.

Sharp’s expert beer sommelier and regular on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen, Ed Hughes, will be conducting a demo again this year in the Sharp’s Chef’s Theatre on Friday at 2pm – 3pm with head chefs from The Mariners, Joe Rozier and Tom Dawes. Collectively Ed, Joe and Tom will divulge expert knowledge and fascinating insights into what makes beer and food so great together, including different beer styles, glassware options, brewing techniques and tasting notes.
The first ever Cornish Silent Bistro will be a unique 60 seater dining experience, pairing beer and food to music through headphones, raising the tasting senses and providing an exciting new route to combining beer and food. Alongside the traditional food pairing, diners will receive expert chef commentary and expert beer sommelier Ed Hughes to draw out the flavour cues and tasting notes of each delicious course.
As well as its popular brews and limited edition Coconut Stout, available to purchase at the festival will be Sharp’s Brewery’s very own cookbook, Just Add Beer, the go-to guide for beer aficionados and foodies alike, created by top chefs who either live or have a strong affiliation to the county.
