It’s not an overstatement to say that Padstow Christmas Festival is the highlight of our busy events calendar and one the whole Sharp’s team look forward to with great enthusiasm. Being based across the Camel Estuary in Rock, the Christmas Festival is so important to us in celebrating the beautiful area in which we live and work. This is a Christmas Festival like no other, bringing festive spirit, wonderful food, drink and friends together in a uniquely North Cornish way. We’re super-excited to be back as headline partners, and to be bringing you a host of activities, and beer-y opportunities to kick off the festive season in style.
Ed Hughes says: “From awesome producers to wonderful chef friends and a team of incredible festival volunteers, Padstow Christmas Festival is always the climax of our events season. What makes it so special, is that it’s just across the water from Sharp’s home in Rock! Personally, I’m so looking forward to being back in Padstow, for my 13th year working at the festival, sharing beer and food pairing tips, and meeting friends old and new. Hope to see you there!”
Sharp’s travelling shop and tasting bar
While at the festival, we will have plenty of products and experiences for you to try. A new addition to Padstow Christmas Festival this year is the Sharp’s travelling shop and tasting bar. Located outside the Sharp’s Chefs’ Theatre, we will be handing out samples of beer to passers-by (over the age of 18). It will also be a great first stop to beer related Christmas presents and stocking fillers, with a few special Festival offers to be had. Look out for an illuminated shipping container and the smiling faces of our amazing Sharp’s family and don’t leave Padstow without trying Chalky’s Bite, brewed in collaboration with Rick Stein, which has won more beer awards than any other beer in our portfolio.
Exclusive beers
Also on offer are two very special beers, one of which will be brewed especially for the festival. More details coming soon! The other is Solar Wave Hazy IPA, our newest permanent addition to our range of cask beer. Solar Wave is a juicy IPA, bursting with tropical hop aromas and flavours. It has had so much love since its launch this Spring and we can’t wait to share it with Padstow Christmas Festival goers.
Sharp’s retail stand
If you like what you’ve tried, head over to the Sharp’s retail stand (directly opposite sampling), grab some beers to take home and say hello to the Sharp’s team. From where to find your favourite Sharp’s beer to what to pair with your Christmas dinner, they’ll be on hand to answer any questions as well as offering samples of our portfolio of award-winning beers and Christmas gifts which are guaranteed to please the beer lover in your life.
Solar Wave Silent Bistro
Following a successful run at Box Park Shoreditch and Rock Oyster Festival this year, we’ll be bringing the Sharp’s ‘Silent Bistro’ to Padstow once again, giving lucky ticket holders a beer, food and sensory experience like no other (separate ticket required).
Sharp’s Chef Theatre Stage Takeover
Finally, on the Sharp’s Chefs’ Theatre Stage, our very own Beer Sommelier, Ed Hughes, will be joined by friends Joe Rozier, Paul Ainsworth’s Chef Director at the Mariners, and Henk De Villiers Ferreira, owner of The Halfway House Inn and Trevisker’s Kitchen. This will be another mouth-watering beer and food demo from the trio, on Saturday 9th December at 13:00. With beer tasting, spot prizes and some audience participation, definitely not to be missed!
